Attitude of Gratitude 


Your behavior tells a story to the world around you. What story are you telling? 

This idea, that your attitude/behavior sends a more powerful message about who you are, what you believe and how you feel than your words ever will, is something I prize in my life. And like most humans I fail miserably at displaying my true inner thoughts and feelings through my actions. 

Though I feel intense love for my little family, it’s far too easy to let my frustrations with a momentary, temporary problem manifest rather than the love that I feel more powerfully. Therefore, in an effort to remind myself and my family to display an attitude of love and thankfulness, I have changed my chalkboard to the above photo. Maybe  if I have to read that everyday for a while, I’ll get it.

This is my absolute favorite song right now.  I can’t get it out of my head.  Jon Boden, Sam Sweeney and Ben Coleman cover it on the About Time soundtrack and I heard it for the first time when I watched the movie.  Since then I can’t stop listening to it, singing it, playing it on the piano.  Here are the lyrics and a couple different versions of it, including the original by The Waterboys and one by Ellie Goulding.

Yada, yada, yada. Blog, blog, blog. 

Hey.

It’s been a really long time since I said anything on here and I gotta be honest, I feel really bad about that. I know all 5 of you who read this are counting on me to say something so witty/inspirational that you just pee yourself. But it’s been a really long time since I felt very witty or inspirational. We sold our house, bought a new one and moved. And that basically sucked all the life out of me from December to now.

But I’ve missed all 4 of you (it used to be 5 until I wrote this post) who are still reading this. I’ve missed sharing my folksy wisdom and homespun humor with you. (Just go with it.) I’ve missed making your little faces smoosh up into a sort of smile like thing. I’ve missed all the comments I get from Anonymous. (Love you bro and/or lady!) And I’ve missed writing, in general.


And so, here I am, trying to write a post for you. I’m gonna try super duper hard to write more often. I ain’t making any promises because promises are the devil. But I will say, “I’ll try.” (Seriously, promises can send you to H-E-double hockey sticks.)

But whilst I’m trying to think of something clever to say… you can read this: my love handles have a story. A super great blog post by a fantastic little lady, Jordan Fix. She may or may not be my sister. Ok, she totally is! But seriously, it’s legit and stuff. I loved it, therefore you will too.

I think it goes without saying… but I guess I should say it because that’s what you do after you say that it goes without saying… it goes without saying that I love you all.  I love you and I will try harder not to let you down.
