A Song of Grief and Hope
Human race, human race
I’ve been trying to meet you face to face
Do you smile, do you cry
While you’re walking the annals of space and time
I know you die. And you live. And you hate. You forgive.
And you love. And you grieve. And you doubt. And you believe.
Do you want, want to see
The face of the One who made you and me
Ask Him how, ask Him why
Know you’re longing to know why you’re loved ones died
Why they lived? Why the pain? Why the joy? The suffering?
Does He love? Does He grieve? Though you doubt. I believe.
Though I can’t know, I can’t have
All the answers I seek to the questions I ask
I can hope, I can dream
I can cling to the love that He’s offering to me
I can cling to the love that He’s offering to me
I can cling to the love that He’s offering to me
Cause I will die. But will I live? I will hate. Can I forgive?
And can I love? While I grieve? And in the midst of doubt, can I believe?
Can I cling to the love He’s offering me?
Can I cling to the love He’s offering me?
Human race, human race
I’ve been trying to meet you face to face.
